His Mercies Are New Every Morning: 20 KJV Verses for a Fresh Start: 20 KJV verses for a fresh startSave

By November a lot of us are tired of this year. The plans we made in January slipped somewhere around March, and it feels easier to wait for a new calendar before trying again.

God doesn't keep that calendar. Lamentations 3:22-23 was written in the ruins of Jerusalem, and even there the writer could say God's mercies are new every morning. Here are twenty King James verses for starting over with God now, not in January, and a short prayer to pray with them.

A morning prayer for a fresh start

Lord,

I'm tired of this year, and some of it I'd rather forget. Thank You that I don't have to wait for January to begin again with You. Your mercies are new this morning, the same as every morning.

Forgive what I carried into today that I should have left with You. Give me a clean heart and one small next step.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

New every morning

  1. 1. Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)

22It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Written in a ruined city. If mercy was new there, it's new in your kitchen too.

  2. 2. Psalm 30:5 (KJV)

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

The night is real, and so is the morning.

  3. 3. Psalm 143:8 (KJV)

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

Ask to hear His lovingkindness first thing.

  4. 4. Psalm 90:14 (KJV)

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

A prayer to be satisfied with His mercy early in the day.

  5. 5. Psalm 5:3 (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Start the day by looking up and expecting Him.

Starting over with God

  1. 6. Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV)

18Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Don't stay stuck in what's behind you. He is doing a new thing.

  2. 7. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

In Christ the old things are passed away.

  3. 8. Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)

13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward.

  4. 9. Psalm 51:10 (KJV)

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Ask for a clean heart and a right spirit.

  5. 10. Ezekiel 36:26 (KJV)

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

A new heart is His gift, not your project.

  6. 11. 1 John 1:9 (KJV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confess it and let Him clean the slate.

When the year has been hard

  1. 12. Joel 2:25 (KJV)

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

He can restore the years you feel you lost.

  2. 13. Psalm 40:2-3 (KJV)

2He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Out of the pit, feet on a rock, a new song.

  3. 14. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Strength renewed for people who wait on Him.

  4. 15. Romans 8:28 (KJV)

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Even this year is being worked together for good.

  5. 16. Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

He is near when your heart is broken.

Walking forward

  1. 17. Proverbs 4:18 (KJV)

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

    The path keeps getting brighter.

  2. 18. Philippians 1:6 (KJV)

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

He finishes what He started in you.

  3. 19. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Trust Him with the direction, one step at a time.

  4. 20. Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Today is a day He made. Start here.
