20 KJV Bible Verses About Waiting on God
For the slow middle part, when the answer hasn't come yet
SaveWaiting is the part nobody posts about. The test results that haven't come back, the prodigal who hasn't called, the prayer you've prayed so often you could say it in your sleep. These 20 verses are all from the King James Bible, and each one has a short note on how to pray it.
Waiting on God is not the same as doing nothing. In Scripture it is active: hoping, seeking, staying close. Pick one verse today. Read it slowly, then tell Him honestly how long it has felt.
When the answer hasn't come yet
1. Psalm 27:14 (KJV)
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Said twice on purpose. Waiting takes courage, and He gives the strength for it while you wait.
2. Psalm 130:5 (KJV)
I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
When you can't wait on the outcome, wait on His word. Hope needs something to hold, and this is it.
3. Lamentations 3:25-26 (KJV)
25The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Written from the ruins of a city. Quiet waiting is not denial; it's trust in the middle of loss.
4. Psalm 62:5 (KJV)
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
Only upon God. Tell Him where else you've been putting your expectation.
5. Psalm 37:7 (KJV)
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Rest and wait are side by side. Ask Him to quiet the part of you that keeps comparing.
6. Micah 7:7 (KJV)
Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
I will look, I will wait, my God will hear me. Pray it in the first person.

When you're tired of waiting
7. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Run, walk: the order matters. Some seasons, walking without fainting is the miracle.
8. Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Due season is His calendar, not ours. Ask for strength not to quit this week.
9. Habakkuk 2:3 (KJV)
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Though it tarry, wait for it. God is never late, even when He is slow.
10. Psalm 40:1 (KJV)
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
David waited patiently, and the next words are: he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
11. Romans 8:25 (KJV)
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Hope is for what you can't see yet. Patience is what hope looks like on a slow day.
12. James 5:7 (KJV)
Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
The farmer doesn't dig up the seed to check on it. Leave what you planted with Him.
When you need to slow down
13. Isaiah 30:15 (KJV)
For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
In quietness and confidence. Turn off one noise today and pray in the silence.
14. Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Be still is a command with a reason: He will be exalted. You don't have to hold it all up.
15. Exodus 14:14 (KJV)
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
Some battles are His to fight. Ask Him which one you can stop fighting today.
16. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (KJV)
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
Beautiful in his time. You may be in the middle of something He hasn't finished yet.
Waiting for the Light (for Advent)
17. Isaiah 9:2 (KJV)
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Israel waited centuries for this light. Your dark season is not the end of the story.
18. Luke 2:25 (KJV)
And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
Simeon waited his whole life and was still watching. Ask God to keep your hope awake.
19. Titus 2:13 (KJV)
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Christians are still waiting: for His appearing. Every small wait points to that one.
20. Psalm 5:3 (KJV)
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Pray in the morning, then look up. Expect Him to answer, even when it takes time.
If the wait has been long, you are in good company: Abraham, Hannah, Simeon, and every believer who prayed before you. Save this page and come back to one verse a day.
