Prayers for Family

Every family carries something: a tension nobody mentions, a parent getting older, a sibling who stopped calling, a home that feels too loud or too quiet.

These prayers are for the people under your roof and the ones far from it. Pray them by name. Below are King James verses about building a home on the Lord, and new prayers for families from our daily letter.

A prayer for family

God,

Father, I lift up my family to You, every one of them by name. You know the conversations we keep avoiding and the hurts we haven't healed. Be the peace in our home. Soften what has gone hard between us. Protect the ones who are far away tonight, and draw close to the one who is struggling most. Help me love them the way You love me, patiently and without keeping score. As for me and my house, we will serve You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Bible verses about family (KJV)

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
