Prayers for Loneliness

Loneliness can come after a move, a breakup or a death, or it can come in a full house where no one really sees you. It's one of the most common prayer requests we receive.

God's answer to loneliness begins with presence: "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." These prayers bring the empty feeling to Him and ask Him to send real people too. Below are King James verses for when you feel alone.

A prayer for loneliness

God,

I feel alone tonight. The phone is quiet and the evenings are long. You said You would never leave me nor forsake me, so I'm holding You to it. Be close enough to feel. Heal what's making me pull away from people. Send me a friend, a church family, a neighbor who notices. And show me someone else who is lonely, so I can be the friend I'm praying for.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Bible verses for when you feel alone (KJV)

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
