Morning Prayers
The first minutes of the day set its tone. Before the phone, the news and the to-do list, a short prayer hands the day back to the One who made it.
These morning prayers are written as letters to God: plain words you can pray in under a minute, standing in the kitchen or sitting in the car. Below them are King James verses about morning mercies, and fresh morning prayers from our daily letter.
God,
Good morning, Father. Before I check anything else, I'm checking in with You. Thank You for the breath in my lungs and the mercy that is new again today. I don't know everything this day holds, but You do. Go ahead of me into every room I walk into. Guard my mouth, steady my mood, and help me notice the person who needs kindness. Let me end this day closer to You than I started it.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
